Living near The Oval

If you live near The Brit Oval, this section of the Surrey website is for you. Here we will let you know about any relevant club and stadium issues liable to affect you and the local vicinity.

Stadium Monitoring Group (SMG)

The Stadium Monitoring Group holds a quarterly meeting attended by local Oval residents, members of Lambeth Council and community leaders. The meeting acts as a forum for communication between Surrey CCC and the community. Attendees discuss happenings in the local area (particularly related to the stadium).

We are always keen to welcome new members to the SMG, please contact Mark Brown at Local Dialogue for more information: email mark@localdialogue.com or phone 020 73576606.

Road closures and parking restrictions

Following the instructions of the Metropolitan Police, Surrey CCC closes specific roads around the Brit Oval on major match days, to ensure that the emergency services can access the ground if a terrorist or security incident should occur. Parking is also suspended on the affected roads.

When parking is suspended on Kennington Oval, Bowling Green Street and Clayton Street we will work with Lambeth Council to provide another area close by for residents to park their cars. We’ll keep you updated as information becomes available.

Road closures occur on major match days. We will send out information in early June 2008, this will include maps that detail the specific closures.

Residents’ Ballot

As a neighbour of the Brit Oval, you are entitled to enter the residents’ ballot for tickets to major matches. Historically we distribute around 500 tickets every season, so you have a pretty good chance of winning.

To enter simply email your name, address and the match you’d like to see to community@surreycricket.com. Alternatively send your entries by post to George Foster, Surrey County Cricket Club, the Brit Oval, London SE11 5SS. We will pick names out of the hat until all tickets have been allocated.

Tours

We are planning to host a number of exclusive ground tours open only to local residents. Please contact community@surreycricket.com if you are interested and want more information.

Residents’ Helpline 020 7820 5656

We’ve set up a dedicated Residents’ Helpline: open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The helpline is staffed by Surrey CCC’s Community Manager during office hours and by a member of the security team after hours. An answerphone is available at all times and we will deal with messages in a swift and appropriate manner.
