Prince's Trust Cricket Initiative
The Prince’s Trust is an extremely important part of our Community Programme. Part of a wider scheme that works with County Cricket Clubs across the country, we look to harness the power of the game to help change young lives.
Three 12 week courses are held at the Brit Oval each year, where around 40 unemployed or under-priviliged 16-25 year olds take part in a programme that rebuilds their confidence and gives them a base from which to rebuild their lives.
Each 12-week course encompasses work placement schemes (often within Surrey County Cricket Club), introductions to cricket and other sports, general self-motivation exercises and an end of term presentation – the culmination of each person’s experience on the course.
The Club have recently completed a £20,000 refurbishment of an area within the Brit Oval to provide the Trust with their own permanent facility. The third group have just started their course, and are due to finish towards the end of July.
