Live Locally?

If you live locally then you will be well aware of the presence of the Brit Oval in your local community. This section of the website is for you, and will keep you updated on relevant activities within the club/stadium that directly affect you.

News and events updates:

The 2006 season is now finished, but there’s still plenty going on outside of cricket at the Brit Oval.

Prince’s Trust/Community Room: We have spent around £25K converting the viewing gallery over the sports hall. It will be used primarily for the Prince’s Trust, but will also be available for community use in evenings and weekends. It is IT and Audio Visually equipped, with self contained kitchen unit.

Tours: We are looking to host a number of tours that are open only to the local residents. Please contact community@surreycricket.com for more information.

Stadium Monitoring Group (SMG):
This is a quarterly meeting that is attended by local residents, councillors, members of Lambeth Council, and community leaders. It is designed to be a communication forum between the club and community, where attendees to the meeting feedback to the club on anything that is happening in the local area (particularly in reference to the stadium).

We are always keen to welcome new members to the SMG, so please contact Emily Annable at Local Dialogue for more information.
emily@localdialogue.com or call 020 7357 6606

The next Stadium Monitoring Group will be held on 26th February 2007

Road Closures:
During major match days at the Brit Oval, there are numerous security measures that are implemented by the Metropolitan Police that we have to adhere to. One of these is the enforced closure of roads that are in the direct vicinity of the ground. Public access roads are deemed to be a security risk to large stadiums, and therefore have to be closed when a major match is in operation.

However, there are very few days throughout the year when you will be affected (For 2006, road closures were in effect over the course of 12 days out of 365, and 5 of those were evening games where the restrictions did not last all day).

Residents Ballot:
We run a ticket ballot to all major match days throughout the season open to residents in the immediate local area. During the 2006 season we gave away over 250 tickets to members of the local community, a figure that we will look to increase for the 2007 season. If you would like to be included in the 2007 ballot, then click here.

Feedback:
We are constantly looking to improve our relationship with the local community, and as such welcome any feedback (positive and negative) about the club/stadium and the affect it has on you. If you have any suggestions, then please don’t hesitate to email community@surreycricket.com
