Biography

Scott Newman’s attractive brand of cleanly hit, left-handed, opening batting has few peers in the county game. Wisden hailed Newman as a ‘powerful strokemaker of the highest calibre’ after he scored 332 runs in five championship innings towards the end of the 2002 season. In 2005 against Glamorgan Scott became the first Surrey player to score a double-century and a century in the same LV County Championship match. Now Newman just needs to add consistency to his unquestionable ability.
