Biography

James Benning is an extremely exciting striker of the ball and is one half of Surrey’s destructive One-Day opening partnership with Ali Brown. At The Brit Oval in April, Benning and Brown clocked up 294 runs against Gloucestershire. Benning made 152 off 134 balls in Surrey’s eventual one-day world record of 496 for 4. Benning only made eight Championship appearances, although his strike-rate of 95 helped make up for missed opportunities. His medium-pace bowling is also improving steadily.
