Wonder catch voted Marstons Moment of May
Published 26 June 2007
James Benning picked up the Marstons Moment of the Month of May for his extraordinary catch to dismiss Sussex’s captain, Chris Adams, in the Friends Provident Trophy at Hove.
www.surreycricket.com readers were split between Benning’s incredible catch and Mark Ramprakash’s phenominal innings of 266 not out against Sussex in the LV County Championship at Hove.
Ramprakash was also in the vote with Jonathan Batty for their fantastic partnership against Warwickshire at the Brit Oval. And so was Neil Saker for his career best bowling figures against Lancashire at Old Trafford. However it was the match winning catch that finally won through and was voted the Moment of the Month with 41% of the vote, whilst Ramprakash's single effort of 266 not out came in a close second with 39%.
Congratulations to Kelly Johnstone, who voted for Benning’s catch and was randomly selected from all the other entrants. She will win a pair of tickets to Surrey’s Twenty20 Match at the Brit Oval against Sussex on the 5th July as well as a case of Marstons Beer.
We are now nearing the end of this month so stay posted as Surrey’s Cricket manager will soon be submitting his nominations for Marstons Moment of June.
