Surrey take on depleted Hawks

Surrey travel to Southampton this evening to take on a depleted Hampshire Hawks at the Rose Bowl in their vital LV County Championship match starting tomorrow.
Due to injury and international commitments Hampshire are going to have to field a weakened outfit in the match against Surrey starting tomorrow. Shane Warne is having to miss out with a suspected fractured rib, whilst Kevin Pietersen, Chris Tremlett and Dimitri Mascarenhas are all part of England’s One Day international set-up.
Surrey are currently in a relegation battle, four points behind Kent on 113 points and 18 points behind Warwickshire, making this match against Hampshire starting tomorrow a huge match.
Surrey will be looking to transfer their winning form from the NatWest Pro40 into the LV County Championship. They have won their last three matches, with Scott Newman striking the ball beautifully. The tall left-handed opening batsman is in some superb form and he will be looking to capitalise on this during Surrey’s match this week.
