Geoff Arnold and Nadeem Shahid have signed contract extensions that see them commit to their respective coaching positions at the Club until the end of the 2009 season.

A former first team coach at Surrey between 1986 and 1993, Arnold spent two years acting as a bowling consultant before becoming a permanent member of the coaching staff as the Assistant Coach at the end of the 2003 season.

Joining Surrey in 1995, Shahid was a key member of the Surrey squad that won three County Championships from 1999 to 2002. Following his retirement from first class cricket in 2004, Shahid enjoyed an appointment as the Club’s Community Officer in 2005 before being promoted to second team coach at the start of 2006.

Commenting on extending his contract with Surrey, Arnold said: “I am obviously delighted to have extended until 2009. With the likes of Neil Saker and Jade Dernbach coming up through the ranks, the Club is entering a very exciting period and I look forward to being a part of it over the coming seasons.”

Shahid said: “I thoroughly enjoyed my first season as the second team coach and am delighted to have been given an extended period to work with some of the Club’s young, up and coming players. It is an exciting time to be involved and I am expecting bigger and better things for 2007.
