Lights. Camera. Action. Surrey TV goes Live
Published 21 May 2007
Surrey County Cricket Club have taken county cricket to a new level with the launch of Surrey TV.
The service was launched just over a month ago on 18th April at www.surreycricket.tv and features daily match highlights, interviews with players and coaching staff and never before seen footage from behind the scenes at the Brit Oval. In this time, Surrey TV has already notched up over 20,000 viewers from around the UK, and even as far as Australia.
In particular, the service has allowed Surrey fans to watch highlights from the Brown Caps record breaking One Day innings when they smashed 496 runs against the Gloucestershire Gladiators – exclusive TV footage that is not available for viewing anywhere else.
Currently a free service to all viewers, Surrey TV also offers a unique archive section, which includes Mark Ramprakash’s phenomenal innings of 301 against Northamptonshire last year at the Brit Oval and Surrey’s push for promotion against Glamorgan, and in the special features section viewers can find Surrey’s training day with Fulham Football Club at their training headquarters in Motspur Park.
Suzi Kent, Head of Marketing and Communications for Surrey Cricket is positive about the new programme, “Because of its timetable, domestic cricket is hard for many cricket lovers to follow live. Four years ago we partnered with BBC London to bring live ball-by-ball commentary to all those Surrey fans who couldn’t get down to watch a game, and today Surrey TV is a video extension of this success by providing online footage of games and Club news. Through our interactive programme of web, radio and now TV, we are committed to keeping our audience in touch with the Club at all times, and we’re delighted that they have recognised our commitment by logging onto to Surrey TV in their thousands.“
Highlights of all Surrey matches, home and away, are available online at www.surreycricket.tv, approximately two hours after the close of play.
