It's the final countdown for Shepperton

Shepperton Cricket Club’s pavilion re-development is nearing completion.

With exactly one week to go until Shepperton Cricket Club host the launch of NatWest Cricketforce 2007 – all is going to plan with their new pavilion.

Blessed with the beautiful weather last week, the pavilion really started to take shape as builders worked tirelessly to begin putting up the walls and ground flooring on the foundations that had been set the previous week.

Nevertheless as the weather took a dramatic turn, proceedings were held up as high winds and the driving rain hindered the progress of completing the walls and starting the roofing. As the bad weather continued the roofers, desperate to get the project back on schedule, gallantly worked on and began putting the finishing touches to the pavilion’s outer shell, with a view to completing it today.

Similarly, the plumbers and electricians were held up by the bad weather. However the excellent all round effort during this week has meant that the electrics and plumbing should near completion towards the end of next week and in time for the NatWest Cricketforce launch.

Commenting on the Shepperton pavilion, Surrey County Cricket Club’s Cricket Development Manager, Sharon Eyers said: “It has been a magnificent effort so far and everyone at Surrey and Shepperton are very pleased with the progress that has been made.”

“The weather this week has caused a few problems, but the workmen have done a fantastic job in ploughing on. Although nervous that we are in our final week, I am also very excited about seeing the finished product.”

She added: “It just goes to show what can be achieved when a community pulls together and I think that it will be a super advert for other clubs to follow down the line.”
