Frogmore win Surrey six a side day

Yesterday, Surrey County Cricket Club held their annual sponsors six a side day at the Brit Oval.

Sixteen teams competed and each of them had a Surrey squad member involved to help their cause. Congratulations must go to James Benning’s Frogmore, who overcame Rory Hamilton-Brown and the OCS team in an entertaining final.

The day started at 9am with each team split into four different pools. Teams, over the course of the day played two matches each, with the top team teams advancing through to the quarter-final stage. From them on, it was a knockout and the final, between Frogmore and OCS commenced at 5.15pm.

Commenting on the day, James Benning from the victorious Frogmore team said, “It was great to be part of the winning team. Congratulations must go to Frogmore for winning the trophy on what was a very enjoyable day.”

Benning, among some other pros and sponsors, smashed many a delivery out of the ground and it was reported that over ten balls were lost on the day. Benning’s six against the home side, Kennington Oval Ltd, which landed on the OCS Stand Roof terrace was one of the biggest.

Thanks must go to the Brit Oval ground staff for producing two superb wickets for the day and also to Bio-Synergy for supplying an unlimited amount of sports drink for players, officials and spectators.

The 16 teams who competed were: Brit Insurance, OCS, Pemberton Greenish, Drivers Jonas, Frogmore, Chart Plan, Jardine Lloyd Thompson x 2 (Last year’s winners), Weston Homes, Kerry London Ltd, Bio-Synergy, Bolt Allen, Kennington Oval Ltd, J M Finn & Co, Easter Group and Tote.
