Brit Oval Crowd

The Surrey fixture list has been released and includes many highlights for the 2008 season, notably the Friday evening twenty20 Cup group matches against rivals Kent (13 June) and Middlesex (27 June) at the Brit Oval.

Last season, twenty20 cricket at the Brit Oval proved to be a huge success with a record amount of over 113,000 tickets sold. In 2008, the Club will host an extra Surrey home match, increasing the total to five twenty20 Cup group matches throughout the month of June.

The 2008 season also sees a slightly altered domestic format come into play, with the revised Friends Provident Trophy now taking in quarter-finals, meaning that the top two teams from each of the four groups qualify to the next stage.

Once again, the NatWest Pro 40 competition will run from the second half of July to the end of the season.

Festival cricket remains an integral part Surrey’s season. From 28 May to 2 June at Whitgift School, Surrey will play Somerset in the LV County Championship and Sussex in the Friends Provident Trophy. Breaking away from the usual set up of Championship cricket followed by the One-Day match on the Sunday, next year’s festival starts with the Friends Provident Match against Sussex on Wednesday 28 May, which is then followed by the Championship match that begins on the Friday 30 May.

From 16-19 July at Guildford CC, Surrey will play Durham in the LV County Championship. It will be the first time that Durham has visited Guildford for a Championship match since their inception to first-class cricket in 1991. On Sunday 20 July, the week of cricket will be capped off with a NatWest Pro40 match between Surrey and Yorkshire.

Tickets for all major domestic games will be available from the Brit Oval ticket office and online at www.surreycricket.com early in the New Year.

In addition to this exciting calendar of events on the domestic scene, the Brit Oval will also play host to several International matches, which includes two NatWest One-Day Internationals when England take on New Zealand on 25 June and then South Africa on 29 August. The npower Test Match between England and South Africa is scheduled for 7-11 August.

Ticket for these matches will be available to the general public on 19 November, online at www.surreycricket.com.

Please be aware that start times of the fixtures maybe subject to change.
