After two fantastic victories against Middlesex and Hampshire, Surrey now prepare themselves for a double header against both the Essex Eagles and the Sussex Sharks.

Alan Butcher’s side will travel to Essex to take on the Eagles at the County Ground in Chelmsford. There will be mixed feeling for Surrey as they will be taking on an Essex side boasting the former Brown Cap’s captain, Adam Hollioake, who has been recruited for the Twenty20 period.

Surrey are currently second in the Twenty20 South Division but are only one point behind the leaders Sussex, who they will be taking on at Hove tomorrow.

Chris Schofield, Azhar Mahmood and Rikki Clarke will all return from having represented the PCA Masters in a Twenty20 warm up match at Arundel against the West Indies. Schofield will be joined by his spin partner Nayan Doshi and together the pair will be looking to continue their brilliant form with the ball, which played a huge part in Surrey’s two victories.

After a great return of bowling for the second team in their Trophy match against the MCC YCs, Neil Saker has been drafted into the squad to play against Essex and could make his Twenty20 debut.

Injury news

Jimmy Ormond returned to action for the Surrey seconds against the MCC YCs at Charterhouse School on Wednesday. He came through the match well, picking up three wickets with the ball and scoring 35 runs with the bat.

Mohammad Akram has been ruled out of Surrey’s match against Essex because of a groin strain.
