A brilliant bowling performance by left arm spinner Nayan Doshi hindered Hampshire's progress with the bat, allowing Surrey to eventually cruise to victory by six wickets in the rain reduced Twenty20 match at the Brit Oval.

After a morning of heavy showers, the 15,000 strong Brit Oval crowd were not left disappointed without cricket. A delayed start because of the weather meant that the match was reduced to a ten over per side affair, with the Hawks winning the toss and electing to bat first.

They got off to a sharpish start thanks to some solid striking from Michael Lumb and Michael Carberry, however Jade Dernbach had his revenge as he bowled the former for 19. Much like on Friday evening, the introduction of spin from Surrey played a huge part in Hampshire's demise. Doshi and Chris Schofield picked up three and two wickets respectively as the visitors crumbled to 46 for six.

Only three Hawks batsmen made it into double figures as they eventually managed to post 72 from their ten overs.

Surrey had a similarly bright start, thanks in the main to Ali Brown who found the boundary early on. The Brown Caps did falter however as two runs outs in the space of three deliveries saw the end of first James Benning for 11 and then Mark Ramprakash without facing a ball.

Brown then stepped up a gear as he deposited Greg Lamb into the OCS stand twice in an over to get Surrey past the required rate. When he eventually went, caught at backward point for 31, the damage had been done. It was left to Azhar Mahmood to guide Surrey to victory, which he did in fine style with a clip through the leg side for four.
