Jonathan Batty and Mark Ramprakash both converted their overnight scores into centuries to help Surrey pick up maximum batting points on another day, heavily effected by the weather.

It took only a matter of deliveries this morning for Ramprakash to score the six runs needed to bring up his half-century, as Surrey targeted the score of 400, to pick up maximum bonus points in the match.

With rain forecast throughout the day, the pair went about knocking the ball around and after about half an hours play, Batty brought up his second century of the season, with a glorious drive that went just forward of square for four.

Ramprakash and Batty had to be patient for their runs as Warwickshire’s captain operated slow, low medium pacers at either and protected his bowlers with a ringed field. The pair negotiated this period nicely, waiting for the bad ball whilst rotating the strike to take their side past 300.

When lunch came, Batty had showed his fantastic ability to bat on to be 125 not out, whilst Ramprakash had taken himself to just 13 runs short of his 90th first class hundred.

There was enough time after the resumption for Ramprakash to bring up his century and for Surrey to get up to 360 for one before the rain fell heavily to suspend play for a long period. When Surrey finally got back on, Batty opened out, to race his side up to 400 and himself to 154 when Mark Butcher declared, with Surrey having picked up their targeted bonus point.

Surrey went out to field and bowled two overs to make the necessary adjustment to their over rate, which had finished on minus one after the first innings.
