Biography
Gary Wilson is being groomed to follow Jon Batty as Surrey’s wicketkeeper. Formerly on the MCC Young Cricketers staff, Wilson successfully took part in a lengthy selection process to become Batty’s understudy in 2005-06. He was contracted full-time by Surrey CCC last year and has since been signed for a further two years based on impressive batting and wicket-keeping performances. Last summer, Wilson made his one-day international debut for Ireland against India in his native Belfast.
An unbeaten 85 to snatch victory from Warwickshire in the Second XI Championship showed Wilson’s readiness for first team action
