Surrey’s ECB One Day Trophy match against the Essex Eagles on the Sunday of the Whitgift Festival is a televised fixture, covered by Sky Sports.

The match, which is taking place on the 3 June, will be the first to be covered by Sky Sports since Whitgift began hosting Surrey County Cricket Club’s first team fixtures in 2000. Sky Sports also covered Surrey’s Inaugural Pro40 League match against Kent, which was part of the 2006 Guildford Festival.

Whitgift became Surrey’s second festival ground in 2003, only three years after hosting its first domestic One Day fixture, when Surrey took on Nottinghamshire in 2003. It joined Guildford cricket club, who has enjoyed a long-term affiliation with Surrey’s festival cricket.

On the back of the huge success and record crowds at the festival grounds in the last two years, Guildford and Whitgift signed lengthy extensions to their contracts with Surrey County Cricket Club. The contracts, which will see Surrey play at either venue until at least 2010, endeavours to continue the Club’s longstanding tradition of taking County cricket to the supporters in the more intimate surroundings of the leafy out-grounds.
