Surrey seek revenge over Spitfires
Published 25 June 2008
Surrey travel to Canterbury this evening for their penultimate Twenty20 match against the Kent Spitfires.
They will be seeking revenge over Kent from last year after Rob Key’s side stopped the Brown Caps from qualifying to the quarter finals by beating Surrey at the Brit Insurance Oval in the last game. Kent require victory to stay in touch with the top of the South division and Alan butcher’s men will be looking to repay the favour to the current Twenty20 Champions.
Chris Murtagh comes into the squad for this evening’s match as a replacement for Stewart Walters, who is injured. He has put in some good performances for the second team over the last couple of weeks and is likely to a spot in Surrey’s top order.
In injury news, James Benning will miss tonight’s match with a continuation of his back problem. He is waiting for results to come back after seeing a specialist at the beginning of the week.
Stewart Walters will also miss tonight’s match having re-injured his hamstring in Surrey’s clash with Hampshire at the Rose Bowl the other night.
The full Surrey squad is as follows:
Newman
Brown
Ramprakash
Murtagh
Afzaal
Roy
Wilson
Schofield
Dernbach
Spriegel
Razzaq
Ormond
Batty

Highlights of the match will be available from Surrey TV.
