Surrey County Cricket Club's preparation for the summer ahead has been given an enormous boost by the renewed partnership with Royal Sweets, that will once agains see the Surrey squad head out to India on their pre-season tour.
Royal Sweets, a leading brand in Indian sweets, desserts, savoury mixes, chutneys and pickles, will sponsor the nine-day trip that will see the Surrey squad depart from London Heathrow on Friday 23 March and arrive back on Sunday 1 April.
The trip "will be another great chance to get out there and put in some quality practice ahead of what will be another exciting year for the Club."
The team will travel to the Cricket Club of India at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai, where they will take advantage of the state of the art facilities located on site.
Training will predominantly be made up of nets and specific skill training as well as a daily yoga session in the afternoon for the whole squad. There will also be a match day, where the squad will be split into two teams with one playing against a local academy side and the other against a Maharashtra XI at Brabourne Stadium.
Surrey coach, Alan Butcher said, “We are very grateful to Sir Gulam Noon of Royal Sweets for his continued support of the team. Last year’s trip was extremely beneficial and it will be another great chance to get out there and put in some quality practice ahead of what will be another exciting year for the Club. A trip like this would not have been possible without the help of Royal Sweets so we are all extremely appreciative for this opportunity.”
Sir Gulam Noon of Royal Sweets said, “It's a great privilege to support this tour as I am extremely passionate about Surrey cricket. Hopefully the trip will be a real benefit to the whole squad and in particular some of the younger players, who may never have had the opportunity to experience India. I wish them a good trip and fantastic cricket in Mumbai."
