Nicholson wins Marstons’ Moment of July

Surrey’s fast bowler, Matthew Nicholson’s fantastic figures against Durham at the Brit Oval has been voted by you the www.surreycricket.com readers as the Marstons’ Moment of July.
Surrey’s overseas player helped to get his side off to a winning start to the second half of the season by picking up match figures of seven for 81 against Durham at the Brit Oval. The tall Australian quick picked up three wickets in the first innings and four in the second giving his side only a short second innings run chase for victory.
Competition for the award came from Chris Schofield, Mark Ramprakash and Stewart Walters. Walters was making his first appearance of the season in the Championship side and seemed certain to turn some glorious batting into a score of three figures against Durham at the Brit Oval, but was cut short on 70, when he was adjudged lbw for 70.
Schofield’s figures of three for 18 against Kent at Beckenham in the Twenty20 Cup earned him a nomination, whilst Mark Ramprakash’s 93rd first class century against Worcestershire at Guildford Cricket Club gained him his nomination. However it was the match winning performance of Nicholson that won the majority of the vote with 38% and as such the Marstons' Moment of July.
