Make Poverty History at the Brit Oval
Published 1 July 2005
Surrey County Cricket Club will team up with a Lambeth School to support the “Make Poverty History” campaign today.
Pupils from Archbishop Tennisons School will join up with the likes of ex-Surrey and England skipper Adam Hollioake and current Surrey stars Neil Saker and Jade Dernbach to tie a huge white band around the Club’s Brit Oval ground.

The White band started at the Hobbs Gate went round the entire ground
The aim of the event is to make a dramatic and memorable public gesture in support of the Make Poverty History Campaign-wearing a white wrist band has become the symbol of the cause.
The event will take place from 11am and 12.30pm today. Pupils and staff will proceed from the school to the Hobbs Gate on Harleyford Road where they will pick up their section of the “band” and start walking round the ground until the “band” reaches back to the Hobbs Gate.
