Surrey will once again be without their overseas player Azhar Mahmood as the squad prepare for their LV County Championship encounter with Sussex at Hove.

Mahmood has suffered a reoccurrence of the injury he sustained two weeks ago in Surrey’s Friends Provident Trophy match against Gloucestershire and as such will miss his side’s Championship match against Sussex this week.

Currently second last in Division One of the Liverpool Victoria County Championship, Surrey trail Sussex, who are one place above them, by only three points. However, the way the table stands, a positive result this week for the Brown Caps could see them climb as high as fourth in the table.

Ian Salisbury has recovered from the achilles flare-up and stomach bug that kept him out of action last week, to be included in the squad to play against his old county. Whilst Richard Clinton, who scored a century for the second team last week has also been selected, with James Benning and Chris Schofield the unlucky players having to make way.

Mohammad Akram will join fellow fast bowlers Matthew Nicholson and Neil Saker in travelling down to Hove whilst Surrey’s top order will take a similar shape to that of the opening matches.

Surrey’s medical team are happy to report that other than Mahmood, the Surrey playing staff are fit and without injury.

The Club have reported that there are limited tickets available. Ticket prices are £15 for adults and £8 for Under 16's.
