Ian Salisbury benefit event
Published 7 November 2007
Surrey 2007 beneficiary, Ian Salisbury has just one more event for the rest of the year and he needs your support.
Salisbury joined Surrey from Sussex for the start of 1997, the season in which the Club won the Benson & Hedges Cup and embarked on its long run of success across all competitions, a triumphant period in which Surrey won three County Championship titles, including back to back successes- the Benson & Hedges Cup again and the inaugural Twenty20 Cup.
The fact that Ian’s decade at the Club has seen so much on field success is no coincidence. In 1997, he and his “spin twin” Saqlain Mushtaq formed a partnership that was to become the scourge of County batsman over the next seven years. If the quicker bowlers couldn’t make the break through, the spinners could and Surrey was an irresistible force.
In a career that has spanned nearly 20 years. Since 1989, he has played in 310 first-class matches, taking 851 wickets at 32.77 apiece. He played in 15 Test Matches for England between 1992 and 2000.
Details of the remaining event are:
- The Christmas Luncheon at the Brewery, Chiswell Street, London on Wednesday 5 December. Bob “the Cat” Bevan will be comparing the day, with Kevin Connelly as a guest speaker. Tickets are just £129.95 each. For more information,
