In recognition for his outstanding service to both Surrey and England over the last eleven years, there are to be numerous events this year planned to honour Ian Salisbury’s accomplishments in his time at the Brit Oval.

The Opening of Season Dinner at the Brit Oval on Tuesday 17 April is to be held to celebrate Salisbury’s benefit year with Surrey. Marking the start of the season, the dinner will take place on the eve of Surrey's first Liverpool Victoria County Championship match against Yorkshire at the Brit Oval.
Mark Ramprakash
Surrey star Ramprakash will be fielding questions with Strictly Star Gough.

The opening event will be a magnificent occasion, with the Rt Hon Roy Hattersley giving the after dinner speech and the two Strictly Come Dancing winners, Yorkshire's captain Darren Gough and Surrey's very own Mark Ramprakash, fielding question from the BBC's John Inverdale.

This event is followed by the Surrey and England Legends Dinner on Wednesday 23 May and will take place to celebrate all Surrey players who have played Test Match cricket for England and will be in association with the Lords Taverners Laker spin programme. This will be a truly unique evening with some of Surrey’s all time greats combined with a whole host of famous performers from the world of media and entertainment.

Tickets for the events are sold separately and are available for a donation of £110 per person plus VAT, to include: complimentary drinks reception, three course meal and half a bottle of wine per person. Reception: 6.45pm. Carriages: 11.pm. Dress code: Lounge Suits.

Commenting on Salisbury’s Benefit Year with Surrey, the Club’s Chief Executive Paul Sheldon said: “ Ian has been a huge asset to Surrey both on and off the field. He played a vital role in the success of the three time Championship winning side and continues to perform for the club at the highest level.”
Darren Gough
Gough will be fielding questions from John Inverdale.

The contribution made by Sailsbury during his eleven years at the Oval has never been as prominent as in the years when Surrey achieved three county championship between 1999 and 2002, however last years performances show he still has a lot to offer as his championship wicket tally of 59 at an average of 28 was his best since 1999.

Salisbury said: “This honour makes me feel very privileged, I am fortunate to have some great memories since I joined the club hope there will be many more to come.”

Surrey fans will be hoping the Surrey man can recapture the form he showed last season and wish him all the best for his benefit year.
