Harinath and Thorpe both cap off season with wins

Arun Harinath finished his Sydney commitments on a happy note with a good win last Saturday. Playing with the Randwick-Petersham first grade side, Arun opened the batting but was unluckily run out.
Although he scored just 15, Arun batted well and, along with opening partner John Boettiger, saw off the Blacktown opening attack.
After a poor season, Randwick-Petersham lifted themselves from the bottom of the table with their second win in succession. 
Thorpe ended his Sydney grade commitments at the weekend They dismissed Blacktown for 199, and lost only three wickets before picking up the win. Arun took a good catch in slips during the Blacktown innings.
Saturday’s round of matches were the last of the competition proper, with the six team semi-final matches starting from next week.
Jade Dernbach also played with the Randy Petes before Christmas. With only three wins from their 19 games, Randwick-Petersham finished 19th on the ladder in the 20 team competition, with Parramatta in last place.
Graham Thorpe also finished his season with a win. His team, UTS Balmain scored 173-7 in reply to Hawkesbury's 171. Graham 's contribution was 24. The win moved UTS Balmain on to 15th place on the ladder.
Tim Murtagh's club Eastern Suburbs surprisingly were beaten by North Sydney, illustrating again how much they miss Tim's bowling. Still Easts finished the regular season in third place, which will allow them to host a playoff game on Saturday and Sunday this weekend, against Glenn McGrath and Phil Jaques’ club, Sutherland.
Trent Woodhill is now working for NSW Cricket
Blacktown, the Club that Neil Saker played for this winter finished off the season in 18th place after their loss to Randwick-Petersham.
Meanwhile in other Sydney news, former Surrey stats man, Trent Woodhill has been appointed New South Wales under 17 coach. Trent now has a full time position with New South Wales cricket, and as well as his under 17 duties, he will look after the Emerging Blues under 13s, 14s, 15s, and 16s. David Gilbert, who made his Test debut for Australia against England at the Brit Oval on 29 August, 1985 and was also a former Surrey Cricket Manager, is the Chief Executive of New South Wales cricket.
