Disability Cricket

Today, Surrey County Cricket Club will host a disability day at the Brit Oval.

Kids ranging from 9-15 years of age from approximately seven schools around the Surrey and London area will have the opportunity to play cricket on the hallowed Brit Oval turf as well as receive some coaching by Surrey staff.

Games have been organised between 10.30am and 2pm with a tour of the entire ground also scheduled in to cap off the day.

Cricket Development Manager, Sharon Eyers said:
"It's fantastic for these kids to get the chance to play on the outfield. I'm also extremely grateful to Brit Insurance, because without their help, these sorts of days would not be possible."

The Surrey Cricket Disability Programme is run in partnership with the LCCA and is sponsored by Brit Insurance.

Kids with mild learning difficulties, the visually impaired as well as mixed physical disabilities will all be present on the day.

Currently, Surrey Cricket has County Squads for the visually impaired, mild learning difficulties and mixed physical disabilities. The five-year vision is to set up clubs specifically for disabled kids all over Surrey.
