Surrey Cricket Manager Alan Butcher has called for a siege mentality in his squad as Surrey prepare to take on Sussex in the Liverpool Victoria County Championship this week.

Speaking this week, Butcher said he is optimistic that his side can build on recent good performances against Somerset and Northamptonshire.

“Once again illness and injury have made selection a problem”, Butcher said this week. “But in securing the services of Alex Tudor on loan, we have an experienced bowler well used to conditions at the Brit Oval.”

After Mark Ramprakash followed up his historic hundredth hundred with an almost flawless double century at Taunton, the batsman is now focused on leading his side to safety. Speaking to Surrey TV – Surrey Cricket’s exclusive online centre for highlights, features and interviews – the stand in skipper talked of the importance of individual players keeping their heads down and delivering performances for the team.
