Azhar back for London derby
Published 12 May 2007
Azhar Mahmood has worked himself hard to get back to fitness and be included in Surrey’s squad for tomorrow’s Friend Provident Trophy Match against Middlesex at the Brit Oval.
Mahmood has not played for two weeks, because of a back injury that he sustained in Surrey’s world record match against Gloucestershire. He has worked extremely hard with Surrey medical staff and after a bowl in the nets this morning has been included in the 13-man squad.
After scoring a century in the middle of the week for the second team, Richard Clinton has been drafted into the squad, whilst James Benning and Ali Brown will be attempting to recreate the exhilarating form that saw them both pass 150 a fortnight ago.
Injury News
Ian Salisbury has recovered from both the flare up of his achilles as well as a stomach bug that stopped him from playing in Surrey’s LV County Championship Match against Warwickshire. He will however be rested for tomorrow’s Friends Provident Match, with a view to travelling to Hove for Surrey’s match against Sussex next week.
Surrey Cricket Manager, Alan Butcher, has named the following 13 men in tomorrow's squad:
Scott Newman,
James Benning,
Mark Ramprakash,
