Whitgift festival fast approaching

Whitgift School

The Whitgift Festival is fast approaching offering you the Surrey fans the opportunity to see the Brown Cap stars playing up close.

This year, Surrey will take on the Sussex Sharks in the return Friends Provident Trophy match on the Wednesday of the Festival. With Whitgift’s batsman friendly pitch and rapid outfield, this One Day match will get the Festival off to a crashing start.

Chris Adams’ men will be seeking revenge after Surrey travelled to Hove to destroy the Sharks’ bowling attack to post an enormous first innings score of 346 in the first FP Trophy match. Usman Afzaal was the star for Surrey with his not out 126 and bowling figures of two for 42 and he will be hoping for more of the same at Whitgift.

In the LV County Championship starting on the Friday, Alan Butcher’s men will host a strong Somerset side boasting the likes of Marcus Trescothick and skipper, Justin Langer. Somerset were at Guildford in 2006 and will travel to Croydon in an attempt to defeat the inform Surrey side on their Festival patch.
