Surrey second team take on Reigate
Published 25 April 2008
The Surrey second team will travel to Reigate tomorrow to take on last year's Surrey Premiership winners Reigate Priory Cricket Club in the Club Championship season opener.
The fixture is becoming an annual event where the Surrey second team get a side together to take on the previous year's Club Premiership Champions.
Reigate players, Chris Murtagh and Neil Saker are in the Surrey team and will do battle against there club team mates, who they helped to be crowned champions last summer.
A big loss for Surrey is that of Stewart Walters, who is likely to miss the next four to six weeks of the season with a fractured cheekbone. The right handed batter took a nasty blow to the face whilst batting in the second team match against Essex at Southend this week and will as a result have to undergo surgery.
Richard Clinton will also miss the Reigate match with a hip flexor injury, whilst Gary Wilson is unavailable because of International duty for Ireland, who are taking on Nottinghamshire on Sunday.
The 50 over match will get underway at 11:30am at Reigate Priory.
The Surrey team to take on Reigate is as follows:
Chris Murtagh
Chris Schofield
Tom Lancefield
Rory Burns (wk)
Jack Martin
Nadeem Shahid
Neil Saker
Stuart Meaker
Murtaza Hussain
Simon King
Raheel
