Rory re-instated as captain following false drinking allegations

Rory Hamilton-Brown, who last week was stripped of the captaincy for an alleged drinking incident, has been re-instated as captain for the second Under 19’s Test Match against Pakistan, which begins today at Derby.
Rory was named as England captain in late July for England’s two Test series against Pakistan followed by five one-day games but on the morning of the first Test, the 19 year old all-rounder was given a one match ban because of the alleged late night drinking session.
England went on to win the match without Rory by an innings and 58 runs and it looked as though the incident had cost him his place for the rest of the series.
However, after proper investigation and a statement from the ECB issued this morning, Rory has now been re-instated back to his original position as captain for the match starting later today.
In the statement, the ECB said, “Following an investigation, Rory Hamilton-Brown has now been re-instated for the second Test Match which starts at Derby today and has been re-instated as captain. Following the original decision taken by the England Under 19 team management there were suggestions that Hamilton-Brown had been involved in purchasing and consuming alcohol. Those suggestions have now proven to be unfounded. The England and Wales Cricket Board will be conducting a full enquiry in to the circumstances surrounding this incident.”
Surrey Chief Executive Paul Sheldon said, “We have supported Rory all the way in trying to clear his name of these allegations and are very pleased that he has been re-instated as captain of the England team.”
