Mark Ramprakash finished off what was a very strong day for Surrey as he raced himself to 95 not out to give his side a 399 run lead over Bradford Leeds UCCE.

A slow but steady start by the Bradford Leeds students in the morning session was a sign of things to come as opening batsman, Gharib Nawaz, went about setting his side's first innings foundations.
Chris Schofield
Chris Schofield bowled well to pick up two wickets.

He was supported by Adam Patel, who was trapped lbw by Jimmy Ormond for 13 and then Snell as the UCCE brought up 100 for loss of only two wickets. Nawaz was the main contributor as he brought up his half century, with a nicely timed off drive down the ground. He did not last much longer however as, in the following over, he was well caught by Scott Newman at slip off Rikki Clarke.

The introduction of Chris Schofield brought about the downfall of Snell just before the lunch break as the students teetred on 129 for four.

Surrey's stand-in overseas player, Steve Magoffin, picked up his first wicket for the Club shortly after the resumption of play as Surrey began to make inroads into the university side. Wicket keeper Robert Sutton was the next to go becoming Magoffin's second victim. He was quickly followed by Thomas Merilaht with 28, as Bradford Leeds slumped to 206 for seven.

A real captain's innings from Oliver Roland-Jones allowed the students to put on another 62 runs before the skipper was finally the last out for 58 as his side conceded a first innings lead of 148.
Mark Ramprakash
Mark Ramprakash was on red hot form to score 95 not out off only 77 balls.

Scott Newman and Jonathan Batty set about taking to the Bradford Leeds bowling before the Surrey wicket keeper was run out with the score on 54. Ramprakash joined the left handed Newman and together the pair scored at a fearsome rate to take Surrey to five short of 100 when Newman was stumped for 35.

The wicket did not stop Ramprakash, who was scoring at quicker than a run a ball. He seemed to inspire Clarke and together the pair both raised their bats to celebrate half centuries.

Ali Brown joined Ramprakash when Clarke was stumped for 52 and the typically dynamic batsman was left to watch as Surrey's number three crashed the ball to the boundary to race himself up to 95 from only 77 balls.

Ali Brown closed what had been a very good day for Surrey, by striking a four from the penultimate ball of the day to take himself to 25 not out and give Surrey a 399 run lead.
