Surrey County Cricket Club is delighted to announce the signing of fast bowler, James Ormond for a further year.
The former Leicestershire player, who also played two Test matches for England in 2001, came to Surrey in 2002 and has been one of the Club’s leading players over that time.
However in 2006, Ormond was plagued by injury and as a result only managed three Liverpool Victoria County Championship matches.
Since joining the Club, the 29 year old has taken 196 wickets
James Ormond at the respectable average of 32.38.
Surrey Cricket Manager Alan Butcher said, “I am pleased to have secured Jimmy’s services for a further season with the Club as his ability with the ball is unquestioned. Jimmy is excited about the prospect of being a part of our 1st Division campaign next season. He wants to reclaim his position as leader of our attack and I have no doubt that he will be a force to be reckoned with in 2007."
Ormond also represented England at Under 19 level and played for the England A team in 1997-98. His Test debut was at The Oval against Australia in 2001.
