Dernbach likely to make Championship debut

After playing in his first Twenty20 match for Surrey at the weekend, Jade Dernbach is likely to make his Championship debut tomorrow when Surrey take on Sussex at Hove.
The 19 year old quick has been named in Surrey’s 12 man squad for the four-day game, with both teams desperately keen to jump up the table with a win. Surrey are currently in fourth position but have at least one match in hand on their nearest rivals, whereas Sussex are in 7th place so a win is crucial to keep their title hopes alive.
Dernbach has been a regular member of the Surrey second team since becoming a full-time member of staff at the end of last year.

The only way Dernbach will miss out is if Mark Ramprakash decides to play two spinners (Nayan Doshi and Ian Salisbury), instead of the extra seamer but with the loss of Martin Bicknell from the team who played Nottinghamshire last week, the Surrey captain is more likely to go with the extra pace of Dernbach.
