England at the Brit Oval

Surrey County Cricket Club is delighted to report that there has been an enormous interest in next year’s 2007 International fixtures scheduled for the Brit Oval.

Of the eight days of International Cricket at the Brit Oval in 2007, five are already sold out. First to go was the England v India NatWest One Day International on 5 September and this has been followed by days one to three of the npower Test Match between England and India on 9-13 August.

There has also been a huge demand for the first NatWest England International Twenty20 matches against the West Indies. The back-to-back fixtures on 28 and 29 June have been very popular, with Friday already sold out and limited availability for Thursday 28 June. This is expected to sell out very shortly.

The remaining tickets for this match and days four and five of the npower Test are available on www.surreycricket.com.

Commenting on the success of ticket sales thus far, Surrey’s Chief Executive, Paul Sheldon said,

“This is fantastic news, not only for the Club but also for cricket. It proves there is an increasing appetite to watch top international cricket in this country. We’re competing with a number of popular sports including football, rugby and tennis so I’m delighted to see that cricket is still top of many people’s priority list.”

The Brit Oval has also been selling fifth day Test Match tickets online since 2005. In that year, the tickets were sold out six months in advance. Once again, the demand has been strong enough to continue offering this service and a staggering 11,000 bought their fifth day tickets in advance for last summer’s fourth npower Test between England and Pakistan. For next year’s match against India, over 1500 fifth day tickets have been sold already.

The dates and start times for the International fixtures at the Brit Oval are as follows:

England v West Indies – NatWest Twenty20 – 28 June – 5:30pm.

England v West Indies – NatWest Twenty20 – 29 June – 5:30pm.
