The Surrey Brown Caps beat Derbyshire by eight wickets in the NatWest Pro40 League Divison Two fixture at Chesterfield today.

The home side won the toss and elected to bat but Surrey were soon on top as Azhar Mahmood removed opener Travis Birt before Derbyshire had scored a run. The Surrey bowlers managed to keep the pressure on the Derbyshire batsman by taking wickets at regular intervals with spinner Nayan Doshi continuing to star with the ball. Doshi returned his best One Day bowling figures for Surrey as he took 5-30 as Derbyshire were bowled out for 207.

Surrey openers James Benning and Ali Brown then blasted 155 for the first wicket off just 16 overs. Brown reached his century off just 60 balls and hit 8 sixes before he was bowled by Needham for 106. Mark Ramprakash (31no) then guided the visitors home with 12.4 overs to spare as Surrey recorded their 2nd win from their opening two games in the NatWest Pro40 league.

The Surrey Brown Caps are determined to win promotion back to the 1st Division and this win keeps them well on track to achieve this goal.
