Former Surrey and England captain, Adam Hollioake, is travelling 10,747 miles from his home in Perth, Australia to come to London to run the 26.2 miles of the Flora London Marathon on 22 April. Adam is completing this feat in memory of his brother and fellow Surrey and England cricketer Ben, who tragically died five years ago on the 23 March.

Adam, who captained Surrey to three Championship Titles in four years in a magical era for the Club, will be running in his first marathon. The ‘CHASE Cricket Runners’, who will include his father, John, and former heavy weight boxer Scott Welch, will join him on the day.

All members of the twelve-strong team are running to raise money for the 'CHASE Ben Hollioake Fund', as they either knew Ben personally or work for cricket related organisations. Each participant will run in cricket themed clothing, with some in full cricket whites with pads, gloves and bats, generously supplied by Woodworm.

Adam Hollioake said, "After retiring from professional cricket and relocating to Australia you would think I'd be happy to put my feet up. The Flora London Marathon could prove to be an even greater challenge, (with more blisters), than 'The Journey' in 2003 when we walked, cycled and rowed from Edinburgh to Morocco. However, with Ben in my thoughts and the support of the CHASE Cricket Runners, including Dad, I will complete it. All the money raised will go towards supporting life limited children and their families.”

As well as seeking support from friends and colleagues, sponsorship has also been forthcoming in other ways. Surrey County Cricket Club has pledged that the Club will match any money donated privately by members of staff to support Adam's endeavour. A fundraising party, 'The Big Blister' will be held on Wednesday 18th April at the London Rowing Club on Putney.
