Twenty20 Cup cricket has always been a successful format for Surrey County Cricket Club, and this year is no different as the Club reached the 100,000 mark in Twenty20 Cup ticket sales this week.

Surrey’s home ground, the Brit Oval, plays host to six Twenty20 matches this year, which includes two back-to-back Natwest Internationals between England and West Indies on June 28th and 29th, as well as four Surrey Twenty20 Cup group games.

The four domestic fixtures kick off on June 22nd when Surrey take on Middlesex in a London Derby, followed by games against Hampshire, Sussex and Kent on June 24th, July 5th and July 6th respectively. Ticket sales for these matches are unprecedented, and with the support of a marketing campaign featuring BBC reality TV stars Mark Ramprakash and Mark Butcher, attendance at every single game looks set to break the 18,000 barrier.

On the International front, the two Twenty20 matches between England and the West Indies were sold out before Christmas 2006, clearly showing the popularity of this fast moving format of the game.

Sales and Marketing Director Paul Blanchard commented, “100,000 Twenty20 tickets sold is great news for the Club, and the game in general. It is clear that the Twenty20 format is building momentum each year, and continues to go from strength to strength. With an annual increase of 20% in Twenty20 ticket sales at Surrey, we are looking forward to watching some equally exciting cricket during the series to match this ticket sales success.”

Surrey’s four home Twenty20 Cup matches are: v Middlesex 22 June (5.30pm start), v Hampshire 24 June (2.40pm start), v Sussex 5 July (5.30pm start), v Kent 6 July (5.30pm start).
