2007 Season Summary
A mixture of one- and two-day matches saw Surrey win four and lose two. With some of the team promoted to under 17 and 19 cricket, opportunities were created for other players to come in and perform. PG Surrey Cricket Academy player Tom Lancefield led the team and topped the batting stats with 271 runs at an average of 68. Though the top order changed regularly, Ian Prowse responded well to his promotion to opener and made the most of his opportunity, scoring 248 runs in seven innings and Josh Lawrence made a timely century against Essex. Of the bowlers Daniel Kenton impressed and was supported well by Sam Graves when he played. Moshin Jafri bowled the bulk of the overs and was rewarded with nine wickets at 20.55. Adam Rawstrone and Will Mann supported the attack with great heart. The nature of the under 16 match programme will be examined in the off season to assess from a development point of view the type of cricket played at this age, and how it fits in with under 15 to under 19 cricket generally. Many thanks to David Gorrod and Tom Benge for their management over the summer.
