2007 Season Summary
Though not as talented a squad as the previous incumbents, the side battled hard throughout the summer and lost only one competitive fixture. In the ECB timed format, the weather robbed us of the chance of making the finals. Leading the group with one game to go, an abandoned game against Kent meant that Northampton overtook us and we had to settle for an unbeaten campaign. Defending the ECB National Cup proved too much as we lost in the quarter-finals to Essex. Our performance was below par and we could not chase down a target of 180. However the batting of Sean Cousens at the top of the order was encouraging, as was the progress of Will McVicar in the middle order. England under 15 captain Zafar Ansari led well, though not quite reproducing the form of the previous year with the bat, but bowling his left-arm spin consistently well. Matthew Dunn and Daniel Kenton led the seam attack. Daniel was unlucky not to be picked for the regional under 15 side. However, he was promoted to the county under 16 side and bowled well on each occasion. Bilal Chouhan and Pardeep Chatwell made up the quartet of seamers and were prominent members of the team. County under 14 all-rounder Elliot Daly was elevated up to the under 15 and performed well. As usual the team was managed by Phil Everest and coach Neil Stewart, and thanks go to them for their continued support and
professionalism.
