Chance to Shine
The Chance to Shine campaign is formally endorsed by the England and Wales Cricket Board. The programmes to be funded by Chance to shine are an integral part of ECB’s Strategic Plan to strengthen cricket within local communities and to increase participation among young people

This initiative commenced in 2006 with three clubs involved in Surrey (Lingfield CC, Guildford CC and Ashford CC). Four new clubs were added to the programme in 2007, namely Redoubtables CC, Shepperton CC, Beddington CC and Ashtead CC.
This programme brought in £42,000 this year to take cricket back into state schools. The funding helped pay for coaches, competition, administration, equipment and Teacher Inset
Training.
There were 42 schools involved and each club/school cluster ran a cricket league from
which the winner was invited to the Brit Oval to compete in a Finals Day, generously supported by OCS. Our congratulations go to High View Primary School from the Beddington CC cluster, who were crowned champions.
2008 will see Valley End, Spencer, Purley, Caterham and two special disability projects
joining the programme, which will take the total funding that Chance To Shine bring into Surrey Cricket to £78,000.
