Welfare

The ECB and NSPCC have a NEW Safe Hands – Welfare of Young People in Cricket policy (published in January 2008) as part of its commitment to ensuring that the game provides a safe, friendly and enjoyable experience for children and vulnerable adults in particular. Safe Hands greatly enhances the value of existing activities and practices throughout ECB’s extensive club and schools network and ensures that the many thousands of coaches and volunteers integral to the game are supported.

Team 2

The Welfare of Young People in Cricket policy provides the sport with the tools to ensure that the whole game takes up the challenge of continuously improving the participation conditions for children and young people.

If you have any questions regarding ClubMark or training please contact Heidi Langrish send-emailicon via e-mail or 07786 399277. Or you can also contact Sharon Eyers at send-emailicon via e-mail or 07768 558045

All Surrey affiliated clubs must adopt the ECB Safe Hands – Welfare of Young People in Cricket policy into their constitution and name a Welfare Officer. The latest verison (out October 2007) is available to download from the ECB's Website or you can purchase a hard back copy from Katie Todd for £10.

The Criminals Record Bureau (CRB) an executive agency of the Home Office was set up to help organisations make safer recruitment decisions. By providing wider access to criminal record information, the CRB helps employers identify candidates who may be unsuitable for certain work, especially that involving contact with children or other vulnerable members of society. Clubs with a Junior section must a) sign up to Clubmark; b) have a trained Welfare Officer and c) adopt and implement the Safe Hands policy. Other clubs must a) have a trained Welfare Officer and b) adopt and implement the Safe Hands policy.
