Ground Development
Surrey Cricket Groundsman’s Association (SCGA) "Driving Surrey Cricket from the ground up"

The SCGA was set up four years ago to raise the profile of this area of work within the county. The membership is made up of groundsmen from schools and clubs, committee representatives from clubs, local authority personnel and contractors. Benefits of
SCGA membership include:
- Annual Conference
- Demonstrations Days of new machinery / techniques are staged
- Trips to other cricketing venues such as Lords’ and The Rosebowl are organised.
- Access to IOG (Institute of Groundsmanship) training courses
- A Mentoring Schemesponsored by Sherriff Amenity to help further develop groundsman.
- Access to the Pitch Advisory Team Service where one of Surrey’s advisers can visit a ground and give guidance/advice on the square or outfield.
- Access to the Pitch Care Machinery Hire Service which enables members to hire specialist machinery i.e. Graden at very favourable rates.
Membership for cricket clubs is through their affiliation to Surrey Cricket Board, whilst
groundsmen, contractors etc. from other organisations can apply individually.
